Great shows from the past

does anyone remember the UK series Robin of Sherwood I downloaded the other day and started watching it with g/f she had never seen it being a Canadian lol she went mad over it ended up watching the entire first season on sun afternoon with her forgotten how good it was. Does anyone else have some old shows they miss, I am thinking from at least 2o years ago

Allo Allo is one of a number of worth watching sit-coms from back then. I remember as superior Are You Being Served and It Ain't Half Hot, Mum. Croft and Perry wrote some of them and recycled the same actors. I remember in that era dumb entertainment like Blankety Blankety. Maybe Bruce Forsyth's Generation Game was earlier. This was good entertainment early Saturday Night.
I did not catch Secret Army the first time around. I caught it recently on a cable channel and I rate the first series as worth a watch. I thought the follow up series about seeking out war criminals in South America was so so.

The spin-off series was called "Kessler" and I have never seen it, so I can't comment, except to say that, of course, the post-war dynamic would be totally different. "Secret Army" was life on a knife-edge, and one was never allowed to forget that, right from the opening music of each episode.

I'm really going back here. In the sixties in black and white I remember on a Saturday tea time in England after the football results and the evening news we watched Dixon of Dock Green. I remember next to nothing about plots or anything like that. I remember the smiling face of PC George Dixon saying to all us viewers 'evening all'. He was welcome on our family's living room.

As did I.

Remember 'White Horses' Don't remember much about the plot, but it had a great theme tune.

'On white horses, snowy white horses, let me ride away'

Naked City was another great show -- they showed it in NY and I got to watch it for the first time some time ago. It was very well done.

@shade

It was three characters from the original show - Colonel Potter, Max Klinger & Father Mulcahey. It really needed the rest of the characters. The first season was not toooo bad but the next one was not good. I am sure you can find snippets of the episodes on youtube.

hood, yes simpsons has been goin for 20yrs , but Gunsmoke was a show with actors comin in evryday for 20yrs. Thats pretty remarkable. During this 20yr. span more than 30 other westerns had come and gone.(1955-1975)
