Apparently it does so good a job...it blocks itself...lol
It's best to update with Blocklist Manager from Bluetack. You get a much better blocklist there. I use the paranoid filter, lol.
My automatic updates for Peer Guardian actually work fine, I can see the via the progress popup window that the lists have been updated. The software settings determine how often the check is performed, I believe the default setting is every other day, but you have numerous other options.
do you see a line where it says "6 lists: 6 up to date - 4 failed updating - 0 disabled"?
I find it works best for me if I temporarily disable Peer Guardian and update manually.
@howelljsche, re: status line
My list status is up-to-date and accurate (p2p and permanent allow only), I have "zero" failed to update. I have 3 lists that are disabled because I unselected them after getting the program up and running, the functions are already covered by my Norton anti-virus software (things like ad-blocking).
Obviously, your lists are not updating if you see a "failed" status, but mine are.
Glad yours are working kolb...info must be for those that haven't disabled those functions. thanks
Clearly, some of us are having issues with Peer Guardian...
1.) Auto updates aren't working
2.) The program is blocking itself
3.) Leaving the http block in place (which is default) may be blocking fellow peers trying to connect for p2p download and seed activity
Let's see if there are some common denominators.
I use Peer Guardian 2, downloaded directly from Phoenix Labs' website: http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/
The only lists I have active are permanent allow and P2P. I EXIT PG when not doing p2p activity (in other words, I don't leave it running in my taskbar). My antivirus software is Norton Internet Security.
If you're having problems with Peer Guardian, please provide some details here to help troubleshoot... Thanks!
I get "Error contacting URL" for P2P... The rest are fine.
