Amazon announced today that Transparent has been renewed for a fifth season. The pickup comes a month ahead of the veteran dramedy's fourth-season release, which is scheduled for Friday, September 22.
The series has continued to draw critical acclaim throughout its run, with star Jeffrey Tambor winning back-to-back Emmy Awards for lead actor in a comedy series. He is up for that award again this year to go along with the show's six other nominations across various categories.
Production on Season 5 is slated to begin in 2018 for a premiere on Amazon Prime later that year. Creator Jill Soloway will remain at the helm going forward, with the main cast all returning as well.
