Episode Quotes

Hershel Greene: [about Carl] He shot that boy.
Rick Grimes: Yeah, I know.
Hershel Greene: He needs his father. He needs his father to show him the way. What way are you going to show him? He can shoot, we know that. What's his life going to be? What's yours? All this. I'm just saying everything because I owe you. We all owe you. We can make this better now.
Rick Grimes: Things changing in here doesn't change things out there.
Hershel Greene: No, it doesn't. But we're here today, right now. This is a good place to start.
Hershel Greene: Those feral pigs in the forest, it doesn't take much to domesticate them. Same with the horses we've seen. We have seeds. We can grow our own food. It's time we started planting.
Rick Grimes: Okay.
Hershel Greene: Can't do it myself.
Rick Grimes: I got to go out there. Go on runs, be at the fences.
Hershel Greene: I teach you how to do this. You teach Carl. We're going to be here a while.
Rick Grimes: They need me.
Hershel Greene: We've been here two months. You've made it work. The war is over, Rick.
Daryl Dixon: So how long's this place been here?
Alex: Since almost the start. When all the camps got overrun, people started finding this place. I think it was instinct, you know? Follow a path. Some folks were heading to the coast, others out west or up north, but they all wound up here.
Mary: [Mary smiles] Hi. Heard you came in the back door. Smart. You'll fit right in here.
Alex: [as Mary barbecues] Hey, Mary, would you fix each of these new folks a plate for me?

  • Goof (continuity error): During the prison flashback scenes, Carl's voice is notably deeper than it was in the first half of season four. This is obviously due to Chandler Riggs' becoming a teenager.
  • Goof (continuity error): During the 'round up', Rick is firing his .45 automatic. The slide locks back as they are running and Rick is firing towards the roof line. In the next shot, as they turn the corner, Rick fires off another round, then reloads, but the weapon should have been empty.
  • Goof (factual errors): When Rick draws his pistol and takes Alex hostage the sound of a hammer being cocked can clearly be heard, however the hammer on Rick's .45 is still in the upright position.
  • Goof (continuity error): In one of the farm flashbacks, Beth is holding Judith. The camera angle frequently changes. Each time the shot is front-on, Judith is awake and looking around. Each time the shot is from the side, Judith is sleeping on Beth's shoulder.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Carl hears the man screaming and calling for help he runs to him, and as Rick follows he can be seen carrying the Uzi he took from the Claimer he killed earlier. However in the next shot when they start running from the walker herd Carl is carrying the Uzi.

  • This is the only episode in which we see somebody else other than Rick and Carl wear the original sheriff hat. In the scene, Rick tells Carl that he needs a farming hat, and places the sheriff hat over Beth's head; saying that there's a new sheriff in town.
  • In the Blu-Ray/DVD release, Rick's last line is "They're fucking with the wrong people". In the televised version he says "They're screwing with the wrong people". In an interview, Andrew Lincoln states they shot two different takes of him saying the lines.
  • The part where the gun shot goes off by Ricks ear is shot in the format of the gun shot in the tank back in season 1
  • SPOILER: The scene of the attempted rape of Carl and Rick biting Joe's neck is almost an exact panel from The Walking Dead comic book. The only differences is Abraham is in this scene in the comics in place of Michonne in the show and Daryl does not appear in the comic series.
  • Carl hears someone calling for help. He, Rick, and Michonne get there in time to see a walker eating a man's eye from his head. This was a contradictory reference to a song by Jonathan Coulton, "Re: Your Brains", about zombies which includes in the chorus the lines, "All we wanna do is eat your brains / We're not unreasonable / I mean, no one wants to eat your eyes".

You have to hate corporate policy which invites you to watch a program and then turns it off... Let me see what show and commercials products were shown at 8:00pm Sunday night? I shall move on to Blue Ray or other free services.
