Character Bio

Julie Cooper photo
Julie Cooper is portrayed as a manipulative, witty, cunning, and devious woman who often uses friends, family, and associates to her advantage. She is highly driven, ambitious and always strives for social and financial success. She is an attractive and rather promiscuous woman who often uses her beauty to exploit wealthy and influential men. In the first two seasons, Julie has often been portrayed as a villainous character, but throughout the third and fourth seasons, she is shown to have mellowed, and a more kind, caring side of her is revealed. In an interview, Melinda Clarke (who portrays Julie Cooper) stated that she believed Julie's character also provided much comic relief in many episodes.

04x14 - The Shake Up Season 4 / Episode 14: - The Shake Up

Frank Atwood: [lovers' murmuring, off-screen] Oh, come on. Yes, you did. You know it. [laughs]
Kaitlin Cooper: [entering the kitchen, interrupting them] Oh, my God.
Julie Cooper: [they had been cuddling] Oh, hi, honey. Sorry, I didn't hear you coming down.
Kaitlin Cooper: [at refrigerator] Look, Mom, do you mind? I still have to eat in here.
Julie Cooper: What can I get you? You want some scrambled eggs? Or I can whip up some pancakes.
Frank Atwood: [soft, loving whisper to Julie] You cook too? That's amazing.
Julie Cooper: Oh, it's just a talent I have.
Frank Atwood: [full of innuendo] Yeah, one of many.
Kaitlin Cooper: [morosely] I'm seriously never gonna stop barfing.
Julie Cooper: Kaitlin, don't be gross.
Kaitlin Cooper: Me, gross? What's gross is Frank's dirty, grimy convict bag sitting there on the counter. I mean, what, did the warden give it to you as a going-away present?
Julie Cooper: [sternly] Kaitlin - -!
Frank Atwood: It's okay, it's okay. It shouldn't be on the counter. [puts it on the floor] Though I actually got it at REI.
Kaitlin Cooper: Well, why bother with a bag? You can just as well move in. You spend enough time here anyway.
Julie Cooper: [insistent] Young lady, apologize!
Kaitlin Cooper: [smirking] I'm sorry, Frank. Feel free to have as many conjugal visits as you'd like.
04x13 - The Case of the Franks Season 4 / Episode 13: - The Case of the Franks

Julie Cooper: [as her daughter appears] Kaitlin. Baby, hi.
Kaitlin Cooper: What's up, you?

Kaitlin Cooper: Hi, nerd.
Gordon Bullit: Wow. Who you calling nerd, bird legs?
Kaitlin Cooper: [fondly] You, nerd.
Gordon Bullit: Okay, squirt, you up for some ping-pong?
Kaitlin Cooper: You ready to get your ass kicked?
Gordon Bullit: In your dreams.
Julie Cooper: You two play ping-pong?
Gordon Bullit: Oh yeah. We got a table at the office, and Peanut's getting pretty good.
Kaitlin Cooper: [embarrassed] You think that it's lame?
Julie Cooper: [pleased with the prospect of Bullit as a father for her daughter] No, it's... it's... it's, like, totally normal.

Kaitlin Cooper: Mom, it's just ping-pong. There's no reason to get emotional about it.

Kaitlin Cooper: Can I drive the Ferrari?
Gordon Bullit: No.

Gordon Bullit: Oh, what the hell. Get her purring, I'll be there in a second.

Julie Cooper: You're really good with her, you know that?
Gordon Bullit: Well, she's like her Mom, she's a special gal, and a real kick in the pants.
