  • Goof (boom mic visible): Visible in the 25th minute of episode 3 in the left bottom of the screen in front of Alicia's car.
  • Goof (factual errors): Illinois is not one of the states that allows conjugal visits in prisons.
  • Goof (factual errors): The suing lady was supposedly on her way to a Kosher store for gluten-free products when she tripped. However, it was the Sabbath, so the store (being both Kosher and in a Hassidic neighborhood) would have been closed.
  • Goof (continuity error): As Will Gardner is talking to Emily Tartan in her hotel room, his top button is done up and his tie is tied tight. Straight after Emily gets up, Will's phone rings and when he goes to answer his phone, his top button is undone and his tie is loose.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Kalinda clears the weapon after Diane changes her mind and gives it back to her, Kalinda pulls the slide back and allows it to close with the magazine still inside the gun. Not only is this different from the way she demonstrated earlier in the show, but clearing the weapon in that manner would still leave a round chambered if one was still left in the magazine.
  • Goof (factual errors): While displaying the two valises of handguns Kalinda refers to a Walther PP/K as a 9mm [parabellum]. The Walther PP series is either .32 acp or .380 acp. Being a straight blowback pistol, the 9mm cartridge is far too powerful for it. Amazingly, the writers, directors, cast and crew were so universally ignorant of one of the most iconic firearms of the last 50 years as to let it slip by.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): Arabic spelling in the video clip of "Army of Jihad". The Arabic name of "Army of Jihad" is written from left to right, as opposed to right to left, and the letters are not connected to each other and appear as though in the alphabet. In Arabic writing the letters are always connected according to whether they appear at the beginning, middle, or end on the word.
  • Goof (continuity error): When counsel are called to the judge's bench to confer over an objection, the judge's name plate on the bench is facing backward (toward the judge) at the beginning of the sidebar, but it is turned forward (facing the gallery) at the end of the scene.
  • Goof (factual errors): A girlfriend could never receive military death benefits as stated in the "Double Jeopardy" episode.
  • Goof (errors in geography): They keep saying that Joe Kent is going to Stockholm, Sweden, presumably to get the Nobel Peace Prize. The Peace Prize is awarded in Oslo, Norway.
  • Goof (continuity error): The peer review form Bond hands to Alicia is a few sheets of paper stapled together, with the evaluation sheet (with checkboxes) on top. When camera angle is reversed, Alicia is holding papers with a different cover sheet on top.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): Arabic spelling on the Masjid al Murad, seen as Kalinda walks in to the Mosque. The words are spelled with correct letters in correct order but from left to right and the letters are not connected to each other, but displayed as they would be in a list of letters, such as the alphabet. Arabic is written from right to left and the letters are connected according to rules depending whether the letter is in the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of the word.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Diane is talking with the two senior partners in a restaurant, her big three-strand pearl necklace jumps around with the strands changing position from one shot to the next, without her having moved at all.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Archie Punjabi's British accent leaks through when Kalinda testifies to the grand jury. She continuously repeats the line, "I refuse to answer on the grounds it may incriminate me," and pronounces the word, "answer" with a British accent as "awhn-sah" instead of the American pronunciation, "an-sur."
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): (at around 8 mins) Kalinda asks Sophia how long it will take her to test the bloody glove. Sophia says, "PRC testing? That's 24 hours." That particular blood testing is called PCR testing (Polymerase Chain Reaction). There is no PRC testing.
  • Goof (continuity error): At the beginning of the story, Alicia has curls bobbling up and down as she walks. Then, as she enters Diane's office, her hair is straight as an arrow. Fastest hairstyle makeover ever.
  • Goof (continuity error): In the first scene where Diane is viewing the video it is shown on a Mac but when the camera shows Diane speaking to Wasim she is in front of a PC.
  • Goof (anachronisms): James Thrush hands over a 'writ'. The English and Welsh courts dispensed with the term 'writ' many years ago. The correct term is a 'Claim'. In order to serve a claim under the Defamation Act 1996, the claimant (no plaintiff in England) would first have to carry out pre-action protocol. Pre-action protocol serves to settle claims that can be negotiated away before they enter the court system. If this was not carried out, the amount awarded could be reduced.
  • Goof (factual errors): The British judge repeatedly refers to it being morning in the UK while it is the evening in the US. In fact, Chicago is 6 hours behind the UK timezone (GMT -6 hours) so this situation could not occur.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Cary's "discovery" that since Chen is Taiwanese, he would sign his surname first, rather than 'Chen,' is nonsensical. Chinese language surnames are typically one syllable, while given names are typically two syllables. Further, 'Chen' is the most popular surname in Taiwan (ranked #1 every year from 1994-2012). Therefore, it is almost certain that 'Chen' is the character's surname and 'Jin-Pyn' is his given name. In addition, when living in cultures that don't use a family-first ordering, many people sign their given names before their surnames. The order of Chen's name should have no bearing on the case.
  • Goof (continuity error): At the end of the dead-man-walking scene, Justin Coyne turns his back. But at the very next moment, when Alicia is shown in focus, Coyne is still facing forward and is just starting his turn.
  • Goof (continuity error): In the closing scene, as Judge Kuhn stops in front of Alicia, she's sitting with her legs crossed, then legs parallel, then crossed again, in 3 consecutive scenes within a few seconds.
  • Goof (continuity error): During the court scene, Diane can be seen entering the courtroom, though out of focus, with Will in the foreground. She enters again a few seconds later.
  • Goof (revealing mistake): Nick picks up Kalinda's phone and calls back the last number that has called her. The phone's screen shows 'REDIALING' which is the case for dialing the last number dialed by that phone.
  • Goof (factual errors): In the fifth minute of the episode, Cary is calling Kalinda, but his iPhone screen is in the locked screen mode.
  • Goof (continuity error): (at around 20 mins) Cary and Kalinda are chatting in the bar, Cary is playing with his iPhone 4/4s and it's upside down, the charging port is clearly visible at the top end of the phone. He places it down on the bar, when the camera returns to him, the phone is still on the bar, but the correct way around, you can now see the headphone socket and not the charging part.
  • Goof (errors in geography): Early in the show when Alicia is driving to the hospital she sees a flock of birds against a blue sky. The birds are pelicans which would not be found in Chicago where the series is set.
