Episode Quotes

Sheldon Cooper: [sneaking up to a house] I don't understand what we're doing.
James Earl Jones: Shhhh!
Sheldon Cooper: Whose house is this?
James Earl Jones: Carrie Fisher. And she's a little crazy, so get ready to run. [he rings the doorbell, and they run for it]
Carrie Fisher: [storms out with a baseball bat] It's not funny anymore, James!
James Earl Jones: Then why am I laughing?
James Earl Jones: [looks up from his menu to see Sheldon standing there] Let me guess: you like Star Wars.
Sheldon Cooper: [nods]
James Earl Jones: You know I've been in other movies.
Sheldon Cooper: [nods again]
James Earl Jones: But you don't care about those, do you?
Sheldon Cooper: [shakes his head]
James Earl Jones: [motions Sheldon closer] I have one thing to say to people like you: I like Star Wars too! Care to join me?
Sheldon Cooper: Thank you! My friend Leonard said if I bothered you while you were eating, you'd think I was a creepy stalker.
James Earl Jones: Well, your friend Leonard sounds like a real weenie!
Sheldon Cooper: He is, Mr. Earl Jones, he is!
James Earl Jones: [in a steam room] What were you trying to ask me at the strip club?
Sheldon Cooper: Oh. "How much does it cost to get them off my lap?"
James Earl Jones: No, something about a convention.
Sheldon Cooper: Oh, right! Well, my friends and I couldn't get into Comic-Con this year, and I was trying to start my own convention, and I was going to ask if you would be a panelist.
James Earl Jones: Why don't you and your friends come to Comic-Con with me?
Sheldon Cooper: Really?
James Earl Jones: Of course. And San Diego is right across the border from my favorite city on Earth, Tijuana, where I'm taking you every night!
Sheldon Cooper: Ay-yi-yi.
James Earl Jones: Ay-yi-yi-bang-bang!

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (continuity error): When Sheldon and James Earl Jones share a sundae, a portion of whipped cream disappears and the cherry moves without either of them eating anything.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): James Earl Jones' name does not appear on Sheldon's list. However the names of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carie Fisher are listed. It is unlikely that Sheldon would leave off James only to consider meeting him in person later.
  • Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Sheldon sings the final notes of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," his mouth is not quite in sync with the words. Also, he moves his mouth away from the microphone just before the fade-out, but his voice can still be heard at the same volume.
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): On his list of possible guests, Sheldon spelled Ian McKellen as "Ian McKellan". Since he has an eidetic memory, that would suggest he's never seen McKellen's name written down before (like in the credits for X-Men or Lord of the Rings)
  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): On Sheldon's list for possible guests to his comic-con, he has Stan Lee, Leonard Nimoy, and Bill Nye. Sheldon has restraining orders from all three and since he is not one to break the law he never would consider asking any of them. He does, however, ask Leonard to contact them as he is not allowed to.

Trivia

  • First episode that Kaley Cuoco is credited as Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting following her marriage to tennis player Ryan Sweeting.
  • Title Reference: The guys can't get tickets to Comic-Con so Sheldon decides to start his own convention.
  • Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones, who played Princess Leia and Darth Vader in Star Wars respectively, had never met in real life before this episode, even though they play major characters in the original Star Wars movies. James Earl Jones would always be in a sound booth providing the voice of Darth Vader, and Carrie Fisher would be on set with David Prowse, who provided the physical acting of Darth Vader. This is paralleled in their scene together in this episode where we see Carrie Fisher on-screen , but only hear the voice of James Earl Jones, who is off-screen.
  • The sushi restaurant Sheldon meets James Earl Jones at is called "Kaiju Sushi". Kaiju means "strange creature" in Japanese. Kaiju is also the name of the monsters in the movie Pacific Rim.
  • Sheldon and Leonard own the limited edition R2-D2 Xbox console. It can be seen in the part where Leonard convinces Raj and Howard to go through with purchasing scalper's tickets.
