Episode Quotes

Leonard Hofstadter: Yes. How much for a hundred long stemmed red roses? Really? How much for three?
Penny: Hey.
Leonard Hofstadter: Yeah, I'll call you back.
Penny: Look, I know you were just trying to help with your Star Wars thing. I didn't mean to call it idiotic.
Leonard Hofstadter: Well, I don't think you called it idiotic.
Penny: Oh. Sorry, I meant to. Anyway, um,. I was just upset with myself. I wasn't mad at you. I just feel like everything is falling apart.
Leonard Hofstadter: Come on. It's OK.
Penny: No, it's not OK. Look at me. OK. I took a temp job as a waitress forever ago, and still doing it. I can't quit because guess what, I can't do at anything else. And I finally get me big break and it goes away. I'm such a mess.
Leonard Hofstadter: No you're not.
Penny: Really? Cause this morning at Starbucks a pair of old underwear fell out of my pant leg. And it wasn't the only one in there.
Sheldon Cooper: A joke is a brief oral narrative summary with a climatic humorous twist.
Penny: Are you kidding me?
Leonard Hofstadter: Really because...
Penny: Well... the diner scene. Where's my diner scene?
Sheldon Cooper: Well, don't ask me. Until I see the prequel, I'm lost.
Penny: No. This was supposed the big scene with me and Mark Harmon, but it's... it's gone.
Bernadette Rostenkowski: What happened?
Penny: They must have cut it.
Leonard Hofstadter: Oh, Penny. I'm sorry.
Howard Wolowitz: That stinks.
Raj Koothrappali: I'm sure you were great.
Penny: This doesn't make any sense to me. I mean... I thought I did a really good job. I... Excuse me.

  • Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the introduction, when everyone except Amy is looking at their smart phones, Sheldon points out that thanks to Steve Jobs, people no longer have the chore of having to talk to each other at communal meals. However, in "The Alient Parasite Hypothesis", he is of the opposite opinion, and says "Isn't the point of a communal meal the exchange of ideas and opinions, the opportunity to consider the important issues of the day?"
  • Goof (continuity error): When the gang sits down to watch Penny's "NCIS" appearance, Stuart joins them, holding a water bottle at about waist height. It then cuts to a close-up of Penny and Leonard and Stuart can be seen already holding the bottle to his mouth.

  • The NCIS episode Penny was supposed to be on was "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2003) {Kill Chain (#11.12)}.
  • While sitting at the restaurant, Raj notes that a man with a dog has increased chances of getting a woman's phone number, to which Leonard responds to by asking if it's true even if he lets the dog lick peanut butter off his tongue. This episode also involves Penny getting a part on "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2003) in which she flirts with Mark Harmon. Mark Harmon starred in Summer School, which has a scene where he lets his dog lick peanut butter off his tongue.
  • Penny's scene in NCIS is cut from the show, embarrassing her in front of everyone. In real life Kunal Nayyar has appeared on "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service" (2003) {Suspicion (#4.12)} as Youssef Zidan.
  • In the end credits vanity card #436, Chuck Lorre reveals that the filming matches the story where the small part played by a young, relatively unknown actress named Lexie Contursi ended up on the cutting room floor due to no fault of her own.
  • Title Reference: Penny asks Leonard an important question and he hesitates on answering since she is not sober.
