It all started with four pet turtles and a canister of Ooze. When the turtles are bathed in the ooze, they begin to grow, to change, to mutate! Raised in the New York City sewers by Master Splinter, who teaches them how to be experts at martial arts, they wage war against crime and evil in its many forms.

After it was destroyed by the Foot Clan it was replaced by a New Battle Shell disguised as a moving van. The logo on the New Battle Shell reads: Tortuga Brothers Estab. 1984. The Ninja Turtle comics were first released in 1984 and "tortuga" is Spanish for "turtle."
