Season 3 Quotes

03x03 - His Last Vow Season 3 / Episode 3: - His Last Vow

Mary Morstan: People like Magnussen are meant to be killed, that's why there are people like me.
03x03 - His Last Vow Season 3 / Episode 3: - His Last Vow

Mycroft Holmes: That name you think you may have just heard, you were mistaken. If you ever mention hearing that name in this room, in this context, I guarantee you, on behalf of the British Security Services, that materials will be found on your computer hard-drives resulting in your immediate incarceration. Don't reply, just look frightened and scuttle.

Season 3 Trivia

  • Episode 03 - Mycroft mentions that his colleague often remarks that this country needs a blunt instrument and Holmes is like a scalpel. The blunt instrument is how both M and Ian Fleming have described James Bond. M mentions it in Casino Royale.
  • Episode 02 - Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): John greets Major Shulto with a salute, but would not do so out of uniform. John would come to attention and Major Shulto, being correctly uniformed, would salute in return.
  • Episode 03 - According to Mark Gatiss, Mycroft Holmes' line, "As my colleague is fond of remarking, this country sometimes needs a blunt instrument" is a reference to a comment by M describing James Bond, and is intended to suggest that the two series share the same reality.
  • Episode 02 - Goof (factual errors): In the stabbings of both victims John and Sherlock are both heard to say that the victims were stabbed "in the abdomen" or "in the stomach". However when the villain is shown committing his crime, he is clearly stabbing both of them in the back.
  • Episode 03 - Sherlock says he won the properties in Leinster Gardens from the Clarence House cannibal: "Quite a gambler, that woman." Until her death, Clarence House was the official residence of the Queen Mother, who was a very keen gambler.
