Season 3 Quotes

03x01 - The Empty Hearse Season 3 / Episode 1: - The Empty Hearse

Dr. John Watson: [with a time bomb ticking] So what do we do?
Sherlock Holmes: I've no idea.
Dr. John Watson: Well, think of something.
Sherlock Holmes: Why do you think I know what to do?
Dr. John Watson: Because you're Sherlock Holmes - you're as clever as it gets.
Sherlock Holmes: Doesn't mean I know how to diffuse a giant bomb. What about you?
Dr. John Watson: I wasn't in bomb disposal. I'm a bloody doctor.
Sherlock Holmes: And a soldier, as you keep reminding us all.
Dr. John Watson: Can't we... can't we rip their timer off or something?
Sherlock Holmes: But that would set it off.
Dr. John Watson: You see? You know things!
03x02 - The Sign of Three Season 3 / Episode 2: - The Sign of Three

Sherlock Holmes: [Sherlock and John are both severely drunk] Don't compromise the integrity of the...

Dr. John Watson: ...crime scene.

Sherlock Holmes: [Sherlock lifts his head up and sways a bit] Yup, that.

Season 3 Trivia

  • Episode 01 - When John and Sherlock realize together that the bombing of the Parliament is happening on November 5th, Guy Fawkes Day, John says, "Remember, remember." This references the John Lennon song "Remember" from The Plastic Ono Band album, which includes the lines, "Remember, remember, the 5th
  • Episode 03 - When Magnussen is "reading" his mental list of Sherlock's pressure points (weaknesses), the list on the screen scrolls on for some time (and Magnussen mocks Sherlock by saying that he has "rather a lot"). However, there are actually only six pressure points listed, and to achieve the effect
  • Episode 02 - Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): John greets Major Shulto with a salute, but would not do so out of uniform. John would come to attention and Major Shulto, being correctly uniformed, would salute in return.
  • Episode 01 - Two of the clients that come to visit Sherlock Holmes are a stepfather and stepdaughter. The stepdaughter is concerned about the sudden disappearance of her on-line admirer with whom she had regular contact. Sherlock deduces that the stepfather had been using an avatar on the internet to keep tabs on his stepdaugh
  • Goof (revealing mistake): Most of the supposedly German jurors obviously aren't native German speakers, as evidenced by their pronunciation of "Nicht schuldig" (especially the 'ch' in 'nicht' is a dead giveaway).
