School of Rock follows a group of rule-abiding prep school students - Zack, Lawrence, Freddy, Summer and Tomika - who learn to take risks and reach new heights thanks to substitute teacher Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck musician who uses the language of rock ‘n’ roll to inspire his class to form a secret band. Throughout the school year, these middle-school classmates find themselves navigating relationships, discovering their unknown talents and learning lessons on loyalty and friendships.
It is being reported that Nickelodeon has renewed School of Rock for a third season. The good news comes with four episodes remaining in musical comedy's sophomore run, which has been averaging a healthy 1.4 million total viewers since its September premiere.
Word is that Season 3 will be the show's biggest yet, with 20 new episodes on order for 2017. That number easily tops the 12 and 13 episodes that Seasons 1 and 2 received respectively.
Based on the 2003 film of the same name, School of Rock follows a struggling rock musician who becomes a substitute teacher, only to end up inspiring the musical talents of his prep students and helping them start a band.
