School of Rock follows a group of rule-abiding prep school students - Zack, Lawrence, Freddy, Summer and Tomika - who learn to take risks and reach new heights thanks to substitute teacher Dewey Finn, a down-on-his-luck musician who uses the language of rock ‘n’ roll to inspire his class to form a secret band. Throughout the school year, these middle-school classmates find themselves navigating relationships, discovering their unknown talents and learning lessons on loyalty and friendships.
While Tomika and Summer try to get Kale into the school's Holiday pageant, Zack, Lawrence, and Dewey try to recreate Freddy's Christmas traditions because he is spending the holidays without his mom for the first time.
It is being reported that School of Rock has been cancelled by Nickelodeon. The move comes midway through the musical comedy's third season, which has so far aired six of its planned 20 episodes.
Based on the 2003 film of the same name, School of Rockfollows a struggling rock musician who becomes a substitute teacher, only to end up inspiring the musical talents of his prep students and helping them start a band.
While the show is coming to an end, it had a solid run on the cable network. Ratings were healthy, if not outstanding, and it garnered multiple Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Children's Program.
New episodes resume airing this Saturday, November 18. With 12 episodes still remaining, the series finale - which is planned to be a full hour - won't take place until sometime in 2018.
