Episode Quotes

Captain Hollister: Just one thing before the disco. Holly tells me that he has sensed a non-human life form aboard.
Lister: Sir, it's Rimmer.
Lister: You didn't have the right parents? Whose parents did you have?
Rimmer: You've got to be my hands and my touch.
Lister: I know the sort of things you like to touch. No way, Rimmer. Forget it.

Mistakes/Goofs

  • Goof (revealing mistake): Lister's hand disappears just a second before he puts it through Rimmer.
  • Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Lister says to Todhunter "Will stasis hurt?" a camera's shadow can be seen on the wall moving out of the shot.
  • Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Lister tells the door to lock after Rimmer leaves for the exam, you can see a crew member's hand out the window.
  • Goof (continuity error): When Lister and Rimmer argue in the drive room, Lister stands up and walks across the floor. When he says, "You're a hologram, so what?" he is suddenly sitting down again.
  • Goof (miscellaneous): In the Remastered version of the episode, Robert Bathurst's name is misspelled 'Robert Bathhurst' in the closing credits.

Trivia

  • Danny John-Jules performed "See You Later, Alligator" by Bill Haley, which was used in the George McIntyre funeral scene.
  • A scene was cut from the first episode in which Lister performs a funeral service for his dead shipmates. It can be seen on the Series I DVD.
  • During the scene from the first episode in which Lister feeds his cat Frankenstein, it was discovered that 'Craig Charles' had a testicle showing. An earlier, slightly inferior take was substituted.
  • In the original script, George McIntyre's funeral song was "Heaven is Ten Zillion Light Years Away" (Stevie Wonder) rather than the final version's "See Ya Later, Alligator".
