"Portlandia" Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and guest stars satirizing such alternative-culture types as the owners of a feminist book store, a bike messenger, a punk-rock couple, and an arty duo obsessed with putting little cut-outs of birds on anything they lay their hands on. Each half-hour episode will consist of interwoven short films, with some characters recurring from week-to-week.
The Weirdos lose their favorite trash can, which takes an unexpected journey throughout the city; Malcolm and Kris visit their pediatrician; Peter and Nance wonder why they've never been hacked; Fred and Carrie just give up.
IFC announced today at its Television Critics Association press tour panel that Portlandia has been renewed for an eighth and final season. On the air since 2011, the Portland-based comedy has enjoyed a lengthy run on the cable network that will see it tally over 70 episodes by the time the series concludes.
Created by and starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, Portlandia features the duo in various comedic sketches along with various rotating celebrity guest stars. The show is currently just two episodes into its seventh season, with new installments airing Thursday nights. Look for Season 8 to premiere later this year or early in 2018.
