Kris Marshall, who plays Nick, wanted to be killed off the series, but the writers decided it would be better for him to have moved away.

At the beginning of the episode Ben pulls a card out of a cereal box. Nick exclaims, "Ooh! Madam Hooch!" Zoe Wanamaker played Madam Hooch in the Harry Potter series.
After he is officially declared alive again, Ben can be heard singing a line from 'The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers', the theme song of Tigger from 'Winnie the Pooh'.
The boy who announces he 'can do a pooh by myself' is played by Tayler Marshall, who plays Kenzo in later series.
