Brett and Bart Maverick (and in later seasons, their English cousin, Beauregarde "Bo" Maverick and for a short time Brent Maverick also appeared) are well dressed gamblers who migrate from town to town always looking for a good game. Poker is their favorite but they've been known to play such odd card games as Three-toed Sloth on occasion.

Season 1 Trivia

  • Episode 12 - Goof (factual errors): John Vivyan's character was called Stacey Johnson throughout the episode, but was his character was listed in the credits as "John Stacey".
  • Episode 17 - Maverick Solitaire was introduced. Within a few days after airing, nearly every store in the United States sold out of playing cards.
  • Episode 27 - Goof (continuity error): When Bret Maverick puts on his gun belt on he walks out the door of his hotel room without tying the string that goes around his right leg. When he exits the room, the string is tied around his leg.
  • Episode 17 - Goof (continuity error): When Charlie Caldwell is on the stand being questioned, the defense lawyer makes a comment about not needing a license to shoot off your mouth. The people in courtroom are shown and one sitting near the back is Charlie who is still on the witness stand.
  • Episode 25 - Goof (miscellaneous): Will Wright's character is listed as "General Eakins" in the credits but referred to as "General Gibson" throughout the episode.
