The show follows psychoanalyst Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne) through his week, capturing sessions from a handful of his patients, before concluding each Friday in the office of Paul's own therapist, Gina. Step inside the tangled mind of a man who counsels others for a living...
After his wife's death, 52 year-old Sunil emigrated to the United States from Calcutta as per the wishes of his deceased wife to live with his son and daughter in law. In deep depression over her death and his daughter-in-law's ignorance to his culture in his situation, Sunil is just happy to have Paul as someone to talk to, even if it's against his cultural beliefs. Sunil's therapy with Paul was just a deception. Sunil began therapy with Paul to be deported to Calcutta. Sunil was also the first patient of Paul's who didn't use any profanity throughout the whole series.
