8x09 Dark Was the Night
First Aired: Nov. 10, 2011 on ABC
Summary: Teddy puts her husband’s life in the hands of her peers when Henry is sent to the OR for surgery and she’s called away on another case; Meredith and Derek receive the long-awaited news about Zola; Callie and Jackson come under fire when their patient experiences post-surgery…
- Goof (factual errors): When Meredith is talking to Derek on his cell phone and the call gets disconnected, a dial tone sound is heard followed by a busy signal then the call disconnects. Cell phones do not have dial tones after being disconnected.
- Goof (continuity error): When Owen is telling Cristina who her patient really is, the tube is Henry's mouth is alternating to be connected to and disconnected from the machine between shots.
- Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Lexie is giving Cristina Henry's oral patient history she says he is a 35-year-old male. However, shortly after they are married in season seven, Henry tells Teddy that he is 42.
- Every episode of the show is named after a famous song. "Dark Was the Night" is part of a title of a gospel blues song written and performed by American musician Blind Willie Johnson and recorded in 1927.
