Centered around bumbling secret agent “Agent 86” Maxwell Smart (Don Adams) and partner "Agent 99" (Barbara Feldon). Smart and 99 worked for CONTROL, a secret U.S. Govt. spy agency based in Washington. Together, they investigate various threats to the world. Smart's bumbling always causes complications but lucky for him, his faithful assistant "99" is always there to bail him out.

Season 1 Trivia

  • Episode 03 - Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): It is stated that all three suspects are left-handed, but Zukor writes with his right hand.
  • Episode 08 - The Chief while under oath is coaxed by Max to reveal his real first name, Thaddeus.
  • Episode 12 - When Max is attacked by a Kaos agent hiding in his closet, he remarks, "One of these days, I've got to get that closet cleaned out." This is a reference the famous catchphrase of the long running radio series "Fibber McGee & Molly," starring Richard Lane and Marian Jordan.
  • Episode 10 - Goof (continuity error): Early in the episode, while in the lab, Max spills a test tube full of liquid on the front of his suit. Most of the stain is visible around his right lapel.
