Dexter

Dexter is a forensic blood spatter expert for the Miami Metro Police Department. Based on a code given to him by his foster father, Harry, he survives ethically as a serial killer. He utilizes his expertise, often withholding evidence from the police so he can solve murders and kill the killers either before they kill again, or before they are caught by the police.

The use of bird's-eye views of coasts and cities from a helicopter has started a drinking game in some places (including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and other cities in South Florida). Dexter talking about his childhood merits one sip, while a helicopter's view while flying above the relevant scenes merits two sips. (The glimpse of a helicopter from below doesn't count.)

  • Goof (errors in geography): Most cars are shown with front Florida license plates. Florida vehicles do not have front license plates, only rear ones.
  • At the San Diego Comic Con 2012, a fan asked Michael C. Hall if she could have his name tag (all cast and crew members present had a name tag), which he gave her live during the Q&A.
