Goof (continuity error): During the opening montage, we see Michael boarding a tricycle-gear aircraft, but the aircraft seen flying out is a DC-3, a tail-dragger.
Goof (continuity error): When Michael is visiting the client the third time in the kitchen you see a client cutting some carrots in half, but in the next shot they are whole again.
Goof (revealing mistake): The ABA number that Michael Westen gives to his contact begins 021-001-0175 and then what may have been a 6, the final cut off by the notification of his burn notice. ABA numbers have only 9 digits.
Goof (continuity error): While Michael is clearly seen climbing into a high-wing airplane, the next scene shows a low-wing plane, specifically a Douglas DC-3, taking off, not to mention with a completely different paint job.
Goof (factual errors): For what it's worth, the correct terminology is "CIA officer," not "agent." To CIA, an agent is a recruited spy, not a full-time, official CIA field employee. Apparently either a CIA officer or a CIA agent could be called a spy. This confusing terminology probably is because the FBI calls its folks "FBI agents".
Goof (crew or equipment visible): When Michael gets carried out of the elevator by the warlord's henchmen the film crew and camera are reflected in the mirror in the elevator.
Goof (continuity error): In the scene where Fiona and Michael have dinner with Michael's mother, the straps on Fiona's dress move up and down from shot to shot.
Goof (continuity error): Michael subdues a bad guy and initially points his gun at his head. Michael then points his gun at the bad guy's knee to make him talk. The camera switches to a new angle and now Michael's gun is once again pointed at the bad guy's head.
Goof (factual errors): When Micheal administers the epi-pen, the gray safety cap is still on which would prevent the epinephrine from being injected.
Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): The Desert Eagle that Eli uses is known as the Baby Desert Eagle. This is a smaller version of the full-sized magnum cartridge chambered models. It is available in 9mm, so Fiona's comment is correct.
Goof (factual errors): Michael scolds Fiona for having "unregistered" 9mm semi-auto pistols in the trunk of the stolen car she's driving. The state of Florida does not register guns, nor is it illegal to have them anywhere in ones car.
Goof (continuity error): In the scene where Micheal robs Fiona in the car, the driver side window changes back and forth between rolled down and broken.
Goof (factual errors): When Lucio comes to visit, Michael pulls back a slide latch. The latch has no cover to slide into on the door frame.
Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Towards the end when Perry Clark is strangling Westen he says it will look like he hung himself even though you can see that the instrument he is using (and later the bruises) are at the middle of his neck at the Adam's apple. If he hung himself the bruises would be at the top of the neck directly under his head, following the line of the mandible thus up at a diagonal angle rather than in the middle and horizontal.
Goof (continuity error): Fiona breaks Lucio's right foot as an excuse why Lucio did not phone in to the Reyes, but in the next scene, Lucio is driving Reyes. If Lucio's right foot was really broken, he wouldn't have been driving.
Goof (errors in geography): Before Michael goes to "Bayfront Park" and shows off his Armani suit, the Hollywood Bread building is clearly shown, confirming he is being filmed just north of it at Hollywood FL's Young Circle.
Goof (continuity error): During the scene where Michael introduces Evelyn to Fiona, the ocean is in the background. There is a white boat on the far horizon that jumps from the far right to the far left and back, and in some shots, it's not there at all.
Goof (factual errors): Michael's description of a False Flag as a false identity is incorrect. A false identity is referred to as a 'legend'. A False Flag is a recruitment where the target is lead to believe they are working for a friendly power when they really have been working for an enemy. A very appropriate title for this episode.
Goof (continuity error): Nate's pickup truck is bright red, while in previous episodes it was pitch black.
Goof (revealing mistake): When Michael is standing by the pool at Nate's place, talking on his cell phone to the Green Beret that has Sam, if you look in the background, you can see a "wave" that is not moving. It's a background drawing.
Goof (errors in geography): At the very end when Michael is driving in the Caddy via the Onstar in the Florida Keys he stops behind the 18 Wheeler, he is going the wrong direction on the Seven Mile Bridge. If he was leaving Miami, the "Old Flaglar" Seven Mile Bridge would be on his right, but it is on the Left. The means he was going toward Marathon (and Miami) when the last part was filmed.
Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): As Michael prepares to climb onto the boat he throws a three prong grapple hook over a railing with plastic covers on the tines, the audio has a metallic clink as it connects.
Goof (continuity error): As Michael and Sam depart the lower decks, Michael has a gun in his hand. As they exit the upper his hand is empty but when they cross the gangway it is in his hand again.
Goof (factual errors): SPOILER: When Sam talks to Carla, he offers that the 4-across answer to her crossword is "BEETS". However, when Michael looks at her puzzle that she left behind, the first word is a four-letter word, so therefore the first two across clues would be 1-across and 5-across. Also, Carla told Sam that she was working on finishing the puzzle, then immediately leaves. But when Michael looked at the puzzle later, it was completely finished.
Goof (errors made by characters, possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When the police officer picks up the planted automatic weapons, he does so with his bare hands, without gloves. This would be a fatal mistake for any real police officer, as it would compromise any fingerprint evidence that could be on the weapon.
Goof (audio/visual unsynchronized): When Michael is in his car and on the phone with his mother about the coffee pot, we hear him say the pot was made in "1967," but his lips say "1972."
Goof (crew or equipment visible): About 24 minutes in, when Michael's mom hugs him as thanks for the new coffee maker, the reflection of a person can be seen at the right hand edge of the screen. It's not mentioned that there's anyone else at the house.
Goof (factual errors): Infrared cameras, contrary to the narration and imagery shown, cannot see through walls or windows to see where "heat spots" are. In fact, the infrared camera being pointed out of the windshield, as in this scene, would see the reflective thermal energy from the camera operator only. Building walls and glass dissipate thermal energy.
Goof (factual errors): Carla's business card shows a "P.O. Box" (i.e., Post Office Box); but Michael stakes out a private mail-drop service, whose customers would not have "P.O." addresses.
Goof (factual errors): Michael says if the person you use the stun gun on is touching you, you'll get shocked as well. This is untrue. A stun gun or taser only affects the person who is touched by the electrodes. Even if they are in contact with the person when it occurs, only the person who's muscles are contacted by the stun gun is affected.
