Series Main Characters
William Barclay 'Bat' Masterson: What's wrong, Jack? It looks like you've seen a ghost.
William Barclay 'Bat' Masterson: You're going to tell me Bat Masterson is dead. I don't mind the dying, your honor, but I'd hate to die broke.
Narrator: Bonanza, Colorado - 1882. Like many other mining towns, Bonanza enjoyed a moment of glory that was all too brief. In just a few, short months, its roaring silver boom faded to a melancholy whisper. Bonanza became a town of dying dreams, haunted by ghosts of it's recent past. And the most active ghost of all carried a gold-headed cane: Bat Masterson, the man who became a legend in his own time.
- Sam Buffington who played the Judge was only 27 at the time although his character appeared to be over 50 years old. Sadly he died less than a year after this original telecast on May 15th, 1961 at the age of 28.
