Episode Quotes

James Cole: [Cole, jumping through the times, is finding himself attached to a hospital bed] Oh, yeah - this is where I meet...
Jennifer Goines: Who are you?
James Cole: Hey Jennifer, I'm Cole.
Jennifer Goines: Are you real, Cole?
James Cole: Listen, I'm sorry I can't stick around. But do me a favor. From this point forward, don't ever call me Otter-eyes again.
Jennifer Goines: Flag on the play, Otter-eyes. And, yes, I will always call you that. But okay, we gotta go. We came, we saw, we kicked their ass. Time will take what it's owed.
Lillian: [voice-over] I want to tell you a story. About how the world ends, and the man who came back through time to stop it... and failed. For, you see, there is another traveler, one who's both the architect and witness to our destruction. And the man cannot see the other's design. The end of the beginning -... - and the beginning of the end.

Trivia

  • Madeleine Stowe starred in the original Twelve Monkeys (1995) as Dr. Kathryn Railly with Bruce Willis playing James Cole.
  • In both Season 2 episodes, Resurrection (#2.11), and Memory of Tomorrow (#2.13), Cole materializes from the future to warn his friends of catastrophe, exclaiming that there is "No time to explain" this is partly the opening phrase, and title drop, of 2011 indie sidescroller, "No Time to Explain." The game's comedic, minimalist plot revolves around the unnamed protagonist's future-self materializing in his present living room, to warn of impending danger. Only to be violently captured by a giant, alien-crab, claw; leading the player/protagonist through a labyrinthine series of rarely explained, but suitably convoluted time travel tropes and paradoxes, including ripple effects, time loops, and alternate universes. Some of which have been touched upon in this series.
  • Madeleine Stowe stars as Lillian in this episode. In the movie this show is based off of, Stowe played Bruce Willis' character's Doctor
  • SPOILER: In the speech that Jennifer Goynes gives to motivate her daughters, she references cult classic movies Lord of the Rings, Braveheart, Independence Day and then shortly after, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Movies she would have seen from when was left in the 70s and spent her years growing old.
  • In addition to playing Dr. Railly in Twelve Monkeys, Madeleine Stowe also narrated the season one recap at the beginning of ""12 Monkeys" (2015) {Year of the Monkey (#2.1)}".
