Anna Charmichael Torv (born June 7, 1979) is an Australian actress known for her role as FBI agent Olivia Dunham on the Fox television series Fringe (2008–2013).
Born in Melbourne to Susan and Hans Torv and grew up on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. She has one younger brother named Dylan. She has been estranged from her father Hans Torv since she was 8 years old. Her paternal aunt is the writer, Anna Maria Torv Murdoch Mann, who was married for 31 years to billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Anna's father is of Estonian descent.
She graduated from Benowa State High School in 1996 in the Gold Coast, Queensland. She graduated from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) with a degree in Performing Arts in 2001.
Torv was perhaps best known for her role in the BBC series Mistresses. She also played the voice of Nariko in the video game Heavenly Sword where her face was also used for the character model. She currently plays FBI Agent Olivia Dunham in the American series Fringe. She was nominated for a 2009 Saturn Award for Best Actress on Television for her performance on Fringe and recently received an Australians in Film Breakthrough award.
Torv married (December 2008) to her Fringe co~star 'Mark Valley'. They separated after one year of marriage. She filmed season 2 of Fringe in Vancouver, British Columbia.
