The Osbournes might just be coming back to reality TV!
VH1 is currently in talks to reboot the show and bring back Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly for 6-8 new episodes. Sharon Osbourne, The Talk co-host, announced that the show is in talks, but did not specify a network.
Sharon explained on The Talk, "At most, there will only be six to eight episodes and a catch-up on our lives and where we are now, because it's been so long since we've been seen as a family and our family has grown. We have a granddaughter and a gorgeous daughter-in-law!" She added the reason for doing the reboot,"[Ozzy] looked back on his life and he said, 'I wish we could have done The Osbournes now where I'm clean and sober.'"
The Osbournes premiered on VH1's sister network, MTV, in 2002. The show ran for several seasons and won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program. The show has been off the air for nearly 10 years. The first season of the show on MTV's was the highest viewed series for the network at that point. Fox attempted to bring the family back to air in Osbournes Reloaded in 2009, but the show was canceled after one episode.
What are the family members up to? A brief update of what might be touched upon in the series:
– Kelly : In 2009, Kelly Osbourne placed third on the popular show, Dancing with the Stars. She has currently been a host on E!'s Fashion Police regularly and covers many of the big Hollywood award ceremonies. She is also currently working on her singing and acting career.
– Sharon: Sharon Osbourne has been a co-host on The Talk since 2010. She has also been a judge on the U.K.'s version of the X Factor. She had her own television show in the U.S., The Sharon Osbourne Show, that lasted only one season.
– Ozzy: Ozzy is rumored to be doing a return tour with his band Black Sabbath.
– Jack: Jack has been making his way around the reality TV show scene. Some of his shows include: Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie and Alpha Dogs. He has also been producing several shows. He appeared on Dancing with the Stars in season 17.
Networks are looking for a new route with the unscripted reality shows, as several of the shows this Fall season (Utopia) have tanked, leaving networks in a scramble. The Osbournes will be among two other new reboots. Fox is bringing back Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? and NBC is planning on rebooting Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Nick Cannon as host.
