Does Britney Approve of Lifetime's Biopic?

A TV movie about the singer is coming, but is Brit Brit having it?

While Britney Spears may have a lot to celebrate - the release of her ninth studio album, and an extended residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas - she's also recently gotten some bad news to help balance out her life: Lifetime is planning a biopic that details her ups and downs …and she's not impressed!

The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that the cable network station has a Britney Spears film in the works. Set to star as the Grammy Award-winning singer is Natasha Bassett (we haven't heard of her, either), in a screenplay that will be written by Anne-Marie Hess.

The two-hour flick, simply titled Britney, is believed to detail Brit Brit's early start in Louisiana, her very public relationship with Justin Timberlake, her two failed marriages, her breakdown that concluded with her losing custody to her two sons, and, finally, her comeback.

In regards to the TV movie, the Toxic singer's rep released the following statement:

"Britney Spears will not be contributing in any way, shape, or form to the Lifetime biopic, nor does it have her blessing."

Lifetime has described the upcoming project as the "tumultuous true story  of Britney's rise to fame, fall from grace, and triumphant resurrection." Leslie Libman is set to direct, with Asylum Entertainment producing the flick. Production will start on September 19th in Vancouver, and the premiere date will happen sometime in 2017.

Of course, this isn't the first, or even the second time Lifetime has produced an "unauthorized" story based on true events. The network has delivered flicks on both Whitney Houston and Brittany Murphy, as well as the casts of Saved by the Bell and Beverly Hills, 90201, and Melrose Place.

Despite the minor hiccup, Britney seems to be doing okay, refusing to sing the blues. Her new album has received rave reviews, her Vegas show is a sure-fire hit, and she's set to preform at the 2016 VMA's - her first time in nearly ten years.
