Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (anachronisms): A 1956 Pontiac convertible is seen in the pre-March 1955 beach scene where Bettie meets the young man in yellow.
  • Movie Goof (factual errors): During one of the scenes where photographers at a photo club are shooting Bettie Page, there are a few photographers with a Stereo Realist camera, which was very popular in the '50s. One of these photographers is holding his Stereo Realist in a vertical position and taking pictures and this camera must be used only in the horizontal position due to it being 3D and a vertical image will not produce the desired 3D result. Realists are never used vertically.
  • Was originally going to be 'Mary Harron''s follow up to I Shot Andy Warhol but for some unknown reason the financiers back out at the last minute. Around that time Harron was given a copy of the novel American Psycho and she decided to make it her next film until she could find financiers for her Bettie Page movie. It then took almost five years to get the money for The Notorious Bettie Page. Guinevere Turner also co-wrote both this film and American Psycho with Harron.
  • Martin Scorsese and Liv Tyler had been developing a competing project, but then Scorsese was given the green-light for The Aviator, and he backed out. Liv Tyler also subsequently left.
