"No day but today."

This rock opera tells the story of one year in the life of a group of bohemians struggling in modern day East Village New York. The story centers around Mark and Roger, two roommates. While a former tragedy has made Roger numb to life, Mark tries to capture it through his attempts to make a film. In the year that follows, the group deals with love, loss, AIDS, and modern day life.

  • Movie Goof (continuity error): On the subway train during 'Santa Fe,' the woman at the end of the train with them sits down twice - when Collins sings the line 'Computer Age Philosophy' and when the camera goes back to the shot of all four of the people in the song.
  • Movie Goof (continuity error): After Maureen jumps on the table during "Take me or Leave Me" Joanne is walking towards her with her hands in her pocket. In the next shot she has her arms folded in front of her.
  • Taye Diggs (Benny), Wilson Jermaine Heredia (Angel), Jesse L. Martin (Collins), Idina Menzel (Maureen), Adam Pascal (Roger), and Anthony Rapp (Mark) are all from the Original Broadway Cast of "Rent" in 1996 and are playing their original roles.
  • The stage musical "Rent" won the Pulitzer Prize in Drama in 1996. Only eight musicals have won the Pulitzer Prize in drama - one per decade from the 1930s to the 1990s.
