Movie Trivia/Goofs

Movie Goof (factual errors): It is doubtful the vacuum created by the thrust propellers would be powerful enough to hold the extremely dense compressed gas cylinder against the access door, considering its heavy weight and its aerodynamic shape. It would be like trying to suck up a ball bearing with a vacuum hose. Even if it were strong enough to do it, that would mean it would be far too powerful for Josh Lucas' character to be able to fight, and he would easily get sucked right in.
Movie Goof (continuity error): At New Year's, Gloria is shown walking up, and clinking glasses with the chief officer on the stage. In the next shot from the balcony, they do it again.
Movie Goof (continuity error): When you first see the Poseidon at night the moon is high in the sky, but when the rogue wave is coming the moon is very low, almost where it looks like it is going to set.
The interior ship shots were filmed in two separate sound stages at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California, one in which the ballroom set was built "right-side-up," the other where the identical set was built upside-down.
