Movie Trivia/Goofs

  • Movie Goof (continuity error): When Hermione runs downstairs and she's sitting with the birds flying around her we can clearly count five birds. Later when Ron comes in with Lavender and she sends the "Apugno" spell to Ron, very fast we can count six birds and six birds hit the door behind Ron.
  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): Dumbledore has Riddle's diary in his possession. At the end of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Dobby dropped the book to rescue Harry from Lucius Malfoy's wrath. The book was left on the floor, meaning that someone could return the book to the headmaster's office.
  • Movie Goof (incorrectly regarded as a mistake): When Harry first has the Half Blood Prince's potions book, his signature is in the front of the book. When Ginny takes it from him, she reads his signature from the back. However, the book may have been signed at the back and the front as later in the film we see the words written in two different styles suggesting multiple instances.
  • As an homage to J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, a fan of hers, included a reference to the series in his novel Wolves of Calla, featuring Snitches as flying grenades. Wolves was published one year before the Half-Blood Prince novel. Rowling, in turn, returned the favor: the Gaunts (Voldemort's maternal family though Dumbledore did not mention in the film) is alluded to Leland Gaunt - the lead antagonist in King's novel Needful Things (played by 'Max von Sydow' in the 1993 film adaptation).
